my story
Hello! I'm Ashley and I'm the owner and lead coordinator of Ready Set Wedding.
The idea of becoming a wedding planner began in 2015 when a friend of mine asked me to help her out with a few things on her wedding day. I was so honoured and excited! Seeing how relaxed the couple was throughout the day brought me so much joy that I couldn't wait to give someone else their best day ever. I received many compliments from that day but one that stood out to me was "you should consider a career in event planning". Never in a million years did I think that would ever happen.
My background is actually in science and many people are shocked to hear that I have a degree and that I'm a laboratory technician in "real life". Having that type of background, I think it's safe to say that I'm detail-oriented and an excellent problem-solver. I have also been told that I'm a perfectionist (what's so wrong with that?!?).
Being a wedding coordinator is more than a job to me; it's something I'm very passionate about. From helping you choose the perfect vendors to creating a detailed timeline, I will execute your plans flawlessly and offer helpful tips along the way. I am committed to making your wedding planning experience as enjoyable and stress-free as possible!
my certification
my certification
In 2017, I decided to obtain my certification from the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada (WPIC) with the idea to start my own business as a wedding coordinator. I became certified as a WPIC certified destination wedding coordinator shortly after. WPIC Certified Wedding Coordinators are held to high standards of conduct. The WPIC Code of Ethics will evolve and is subject to updates.
WPIC Code of Ethics:
- We do not accept kickbacks (money for referrals) from vendors. Vendors must know that the clients are the recipients of any discounts given.
- We treat each client fairly, and we will be honest and upfront in the representation of our clients.
- We uphold our ethics. We will not take or attempt to take clients from, or discredit, other vendors with gossip or slander.
- Every client will receive a detailed contract for Wedding Day Direction, Destination or Full Wedding Coordination services.
- We will provide all services agreed upon in the contract that must be signed by both the client and Coordinator at the commencement of service.
- We believe in continuous education, networking and training within the Wedding Industry.
- Our pricing is upfront.
- We will make every effort to return calls and emails in a timely manner. (Within 24 hours).
- We always endeavour to benefit our client and not ourselves. Vendors are suggested on merit, in the best interests of the client, not ourselves or the vendor suggested.
- We can not guarantee your wedding will be perfect, but we can guarantee we will do everything within our power to make sure it is as close to perfection as it can be.

On January 10th, 2018, I married my best friend of 9 years, Dylan. Our wedding took place on a scorching hot rooftop in sunny Playa del Carmen. We had nearly 40 guests come out to celebrate with us. Everything went so smoothly and was ON TIME, thanks to my detailed timeline and our amazing day-of-wedding coordinator, Kiani. There is NO possible way a perfectionist like me could have enjoyed my day without her! I later found out that they had to clear ants off our head table moments before the grand entrance!

On November 9th, 2019, Dylan and I welcomed our first child, Scarlett. She likes to keep us on our toes at all times so that just when we think we've got this, she proves us wrong. Being a mama is something I knew I always wanted to be (apparently since my kindergarten yearbook)! She is definitely my biggest accomplishment so far and the greatest gift I could ever ask for.

In 2019, I partnered up with the lovely Rivers Edge Resort as their Diamond Package coordinator! The first time I stepped into the Pavilion, I was in LOVE! I mean, look at those gorgeous chandeliers! The owners, Joy and Scott are not only wonderful to work with but are so accommodating and will stop at nothing to ensure that your wedding day is absolutely perfect.
If you haven't heard of this venue yet, it's located 45 minutes east of Winnipeg, in Elma, MB. One of the best parts about booking your wedding here is that you stay the entire weekend! Couples check-in on Friday afternoon for their setup and rehearsal, Saturday is typically the wedding day then clean-up and check-out takes place on Sunday. There are two cabins available on-site which are included in your wedding booking, however, guests may choose to camp on-site as well.
